Alan Wood, has over 20 years of instructor experience & an ELO rating of 1900. With a focus on fundamentals & mindset, his goal is to teach fundamentals, strategy, and theory in the game of chess by integrating critical thinking skills.

“I was born & raised in Virginia Beach, VA, and moved to Las Vegas in May 2018. I have worked with children & adults in various coaching and teaching environments for over 20 years and have been teaching chess full time since 2020. When I’m not watching or playing chess you can find me playing old school video games, playing volleyball, and enjoying all the delicious food Las Vegas has to offer.”
